Some thought it couldn’t be done! ”What? Jane Eyre in half an hour?” How could this popular Charlotte Brontë book be retold in such a short period of time? The old time radio series Mercury Theatre did just that on June 28, 1946 and so did Lakes Area Theatre on Friday, December 30. The results of this period show will be played on KXRA 1490 AM at 12:30 p.m. on January 8. The show was directed by Ann Hermes and stars Caroline Roers as Jane Eyre, Tim Long as Mr. Rochester, Deb Long as Mrs. Fairfax and Bertha, with Benjamin Roers playing three roles as Mason, the priest, and the innkeeper. Daniel Roers provides the sound effects.
